Fall-ing Into New Updates! 🍂 

We’re welcoming fall with a fresh batch of updates, including improvements to Lesson Packages, Online Resources search, Website Builder, the Student Portal, and dozens of bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements throughout TutorBird. Check it out below! 

Lesson Packages

• A student’s Package Balance column will now show a dash (-) when there is no package assigned and a zero (0) when the package balance has been exhausted, to make it easier for admins to distinguish. 
• Instead of only showing activity 30 days in the future, the Package Activity default date range displays activity 30 days in the past too. 
• Running “Apply Lesson Prices and Package Time” now also reallocates package time from recently cancelled lessons. 
• We fixed an issue where package templates couldn’t be updated if an assigned tutor had been made inactive or switched to a non-tutoring role. 
• Fixed an issue where deleted package templates could cause errors on the Student Portal “My Tutors” page. Ghost packages have been shown the door. 

Student Management

• We reordered lesson pricing options to make them easier to read and use 
• Event cancellation emails will no longer be sent twice when a student and parent share the same email address. Inbox peace treaty signed. 
• Deleted lesson categories will no longer appear in student lesson setting dropdowns. Ghost categories have been escorted out. 
• The attendance payment method dropdown now includes a clear “Not Specified” option. Mystery option: identified. 

Student Portal

• Student Portal home now shows the package card based on the student’s billing profile. 
• In the Student Portal mobile view, the Attendance & Notes column will now display the event date even when collapsed 
• Saving homework now functions better in accounts where the student’s time zone is ahead of the school’s time zone. 
• Fixed an error that was occurring when deleting attachments from edited homework submissions. Attachments may now exit gracefully. 
• Homework submission forms now close properly after a successful submission. Proper etiquette restored. 

Tutors & Staff

• Added student assignment options into the Add Tutor confirmation flow, with plenty of drawer, availability, payroll, and UX polish along the way. 
• The Time Zone field is now automatically selected correctly when adding a tutor. No more temporal ambiguity. 

Calendar & Attendance

• Calendar event windows now wait until student information has fully loaded before displaying event details 
• Smoothed out the default start time behavior when adding calendar events. Time should now be less wibbly-wobbly. 
• We fixed an issue that was causing the calendar event edit attendee field to look mysteriously empty after switching tutors
• Tutor names in Timeline View are now sorted alphabetically. The alphabet wins again. 
• We fixed an error that would appear when searching for “No Tutor – Entire Business” in the calendar multiple times. The search bar has stopped panicking. 

Online Resources

• You can now search for folders alongside files in Online Resources! 
• The Student Access and Views columns are now visible again in Online Resources global search results. The missing columns have returned from their mysterious vacation. 
• Online Resources space cards now keep their clickable area inside the card where it belongs.  

Website Builder

• We improved our website builder SEO to help search engines better discover your site. 
• Fixed an unexpected error when switching from External Website to Website Builder. The website lane-change is smoother now. 
• Fixed an issue where formatting and spacing could appear differently on your live website than it did in the Website Builder 
• Fixed an issue where using Undo in Website Builder could prevent further editing until the page was refreshed. Undo is no longer a trapdoor. 
• Website Builder now displays the correct Subject tag types when creating tags. Tags are tagging responsibly again. 
• Website settings can now be saved even if a previously valid domain becomes misconfigured. 

General/Other

• We added a new Getting Started Guide to help new users get up and running 
• When creating an invoice with the same date range as a previous invoice, you will no longer receive a duplication warning if the previous invoice has already been voided 
• We fixed an issue where the Mileage year selector could display the wrong year after switching tutors. Time travel (and real travel) privileges have been reset. 
• We fixed an issue where single-tutor accounts couldn’t send an email to families who wrote a review 
• Images uploaded through the editor’s media gallery now insert at your cursor position instead of jumping to the top of the page 
• We improved back-button behavior in form protection windows for a more predictable navigation experience. 
• We’ve made a number of behind-the-scenes improvements to our automated testing systems to help catch issues earlier and keep updates rolling out smoothly 
• Various cosmetic tweaks throughout. ✨
